Physical Education & Sport

My team from left to right (back row first) include: myself, Louise Drew, Kelly Ryan, Ryan Hills, Sean Wiltshire, Temre Ezimokhai our Key Stage 5 lead, Alex Goodrich our Key Stage 4 lead, Argyrios Kalogiannopoulos and Tim Sheehan our Deputy Director of Sport.

All students in Years 7 to 11 receive two hours of physical education per week in which we aim to provide a broad and relevant range of activities. We also provide an extensive extra curricular programme delivered by our staff as well as external coaches from local clubs.In recognition for our PE and sport delivery we have recently been rewarded with the Sainsbury’s Gold Kitemark Award.

Our aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle to all students and hope that they find a sporting activity that they can continue to participate in during and beyond their school days.

It is the Academy policy that in every lesson the students will bring in full PE kit. This does mean that if they are ill or injured a kit is still required, along with a parental letter of explanation, so each student can have a role in the lesson, whether it be coaching or officiating. It also means that should we experience poor weather, they have a dry change of clothes to move around the Academy in for the reminder of the school day. If injuries are long term please supply us with a doctor’s note. The Academy PE kit includes: -

  •  Navy blue polo shirt with Academy badge or navy blue rugby shirt;
  •  Navy blue shorts or black leggings or jogging bottoms;
  •  Navy blue academy sweatshirt if required
