On Friday 22nd November Bexleyheath Academy were invited to join representatives from other local primary and secondary schools to participate in the development of the Bexley Sex and Relationships Education policy. Miss Kingsmill as PSHE co-ordinator attended the conference with Jasvir Neta and Abi Olagbaiye from Year 11 who were selected to represent the Academy student voice. Both Jasvir and Abi worked with the Sexual Health Commissioner to discuss the issues raised by students through discussion and contribute research they had carried out on the Department for Education guidelines and local community needs. The updated policy will be made available to all primary and secondary schools in the next couple of months. The students maturity and excellent communication skills in the working groups with health professionals was outstanding and both students received certificates to recognise their valuable contributions.
