On Sunday 15th June, I took part in the London to Brighton annual bike ride for the first time. I completed it in a very respectable time of 4hrs 35mins along with my elder brother.
I had only ever cycled a maximum of 9 miles before in one attempt but was extremely pleased with myself for completing the gruelling 55 miles from London to the coast!
I was inspired to do this not only by losing my Grandad to heart disease but also by the loss of a fellow student from our Academy this year.
I would also like to thank my Academy as I believe they develop and encourages the students into being such outstanding members of the community.
From my experience of the London to Brighton event, I came up with a fundraising idea that I am going to involve my friends from the Academy, Patrick Spencer and Alex Murphy in. We plan to take part in the London to Brighton 2014 bike ride to raise money for British Heart Foundation and Epileptic Fit Charities. This is in light of recent events involving two of our peers, Philip Lamin and Jamie Leigh Lynch. We intend to raise money both in the Academy as well as in the local community over the course of the next 8 months.
We know we will get support from the Academy and from our teachers and fellow students.
