Mr Ainsworth and I had great pleasure in taking an enthusiastic group of students to Surrey Sports Park for a rugby training session with Natal Sharks head coach; Etienne Fynn. The nine students were excited to be taking part in this great opportunity and represented Bexleyheath Academy with great maturity. They enjoyed the drills that they participated in and gained ideas and tips for passing the ball when being tackled and focussing on keeping the ball alive. The students were able to ask Etienne questions throughout the training session, taking advantage of his knowledge and experience. Etienne was also assisted by several South African players that were in the UK on player exchange.

Surrey Sports Park is also the home ground for The Harlequins rugby team which meant many familiar faces were recognised during our time there, such as Paul Sackey who is also an England rugby player.

The training was a valuable experience and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. The students involved were; Connor Mahoney, Anthony Passey, Josh Spanyol, Freddie Embleton, Jarrod Hoddy, Lewis Collier, Danny Power-Giddings, Temi Ogunniyi-Adeleke, Lewis Preston and Christian Stent.
