Remembering Jamie-Leigh

Last Thursday was one year to the day since we lost the lovely Jamie-Leigh Lynch. Jamie-Leigh was a member of Year 11 at the time and was halfway through her GCSE examinations. To commemorate this day in a befitting manner, the Academy put on a staff netball tournament and worked closely with Jamie-Leigh's mum to put on a remembrance concert.

I am so pleased to say that both events went exceedingly well in every sense of the word. This is especially so for Jamie-Leigh's family who were absolutely fantastic despite the pain they will undoubtedly be going through each and every day since 5 June 2013. Jamie-Leigh's mum in particular sang like an angel and did her daughter and her family proud. There was not a dry eye in the house when she sang 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' at the end of which a hundred balloons were spontaneously released.

This Academy will always remember Jamie-Leigh and Philip. We remember each and every day and will formally remember them once a year on the day they were taken from us.
