Talkabout Course

The Year 7 Talkabout course, delivered as part of our Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) provision, is designed to enhance students' understanding of the range of social communications skills that they need to use in daily life. Around 50 Year 7 students have successfully taken part in around 18 sessions during this academic year, following our initial transition support program. Talkabout topics have included friendship, assertiveness, peer pressure, body language, self esteem, anger management, plus many other related areas.

Role play, creative tasks, group work and independent learning are a key part of the learning process in this program. In every session, students are encouraged to express their thoughts and ideas when dealing with different situations and to share those with their peers.

This course will run again next year for a new group of Year 7 students who it is thought will most benefit from it, as well as those who express a wish to enhance their social communications skills.

Well done to all Talkabout participants!

SEAL Co-ordinator
