Bexleyheath Academy’s Year 10 students visited the Copper Box on Monday to take part in the London FA Pioneers Day.

The PE trip allowed Bexleyheath Academy boys and girls to see the different occupations available to them through the vehicle of sport and media. Unfortunately, not everyone can be a professional footballer, as much as Mr Hills and Mr Sheehan try! So the day allowed Bexleyheath Academy students trying their hands at a range of activities in the world of music and sport in Stratford.

The day was a real success and consisted of a range of activities in a workshop style under the guidance of coach Darren and his celebrity friends. A number of celebrity role models including Charlton and England defender, Joe Gomez, were in attendance to give their words of wisdom. An appearance from Anton and Rio Ferdinand’s cousin, Max Ferdinand gave an insight into the working world of a football agent. There was also a lively visit from YouTube sensations ‘Mandem on the Wall’ who offered words of inspiration to the young audience to follow your dreams and to not give up!

There was an opportunity to get on the decks in the DJ booth as well as many team bonding exercises and the opportunity to attempt blindfold football with Chelsea FC
coaches. Also ‘Football Focus’ were there with the cameras to create role plays which might make the BBC1 Saturday lunchtime television. Keep a look out!
