Following the success of the Real Business Challenge in July 2015, attended by year 9 students, the now year 10 students participated in the Coca Cola factory tour. On the 16th and 17th of November, 60 business students took part in the trip. The trip consisted of a presentation hosted by Caroline Mounter - Coca Cola Enterprises education centre manager, South East region.
The students engaged in a question and answer session, which consisted of the production and operations involved in the manufacture of such an iconic brand. The pupils were shocked to find that Coca Cola Enterprises Sidcup produces 31 million drinks per week. The students investigated the brand portfolio of Coca Cola and were amazed to find that Coca Cola has an extensive product range covering several differing soft drink markets.
As the tour commenced, complete with high visibility jackets, hair nets and noise protection, the pupils saw first hand the manufacturing process of Coca Cola original. The excursion was enjoyed by all participants to further support this, Caroline stated that this has been the best cohort she has seen from BA and one student was singled out to apply for an apprenticeship at the company due to his enthusiasm and questioning of the organisation.
