End of Year letter to parents

Dear Parents/Carers

As the academic year draws to a close I would like to provide you with some key information for next year:-

We are pleased to welcome a number of new staff for the next academic year across a range of curriculum areas. The new staff joining us have carried out their induction and most of them have already spent time in the Academy getting to know staff and students. We will be saying a fond farewell to some of our staff who are either retiring or moving on to pastures new; we wish them every success for the future. I would like to pay particular note to our longest serving member of staff, Ms Liz Foster and also to Mrs Donna Clark and Mrs Guest-Naharnowicz, who have made a significant contribution to the Academy over many years.

Changes to internal timings of the day

Following our OfSTED inspection in May, in order to focus on improvements in attendance and punctuality we have decided to review the internal timings of the day, but the start and finish times remain the same. Please ensure your child leaves home in plenty of time to arrive at the Academy ready to start their registration at 8.30am.

·         Registration 08.30am

·         Lesson 1 08.40am

·         Lesson 2 09.40am

·         Assembly/Tutorial 10.40am

·         Break 11.10am

·         Lesson 3 11.30am

·         Lesson 4 12.30pm

·         Lunch 13.30pm

·         Lesson 5 14.15pm

We have high expectations of all students not only with behaviour but also with regard to the presentation of their work and would therefore ask that you ensure your child is fully equipped for learning by bringing in basic stationery every day (pens, pencil, rulers etc). We also believe in high standards of appearance and would ask that you adhere to the Academy uniform code. Students should be in correct black footwear, which does not include trainers or trainer-style shoes. Please be mindful that we will deal with any incident of poor behaviour outside of the Academy when students are wearing our uniform or representing the Academy at an external event.

Show My Homework

Students will be able to access SMHW throughout the holidays and should be working on preparation for September and any outstanding coursework they may have.

Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank all parents for their support during my tenure at the Academy. I have been working closely with the new Principal, Mr Mark Pinchin over the last few weeks, who is looking forward to meeting and working with you all next term.

Yours sincerely

Mrs J. Atkinson
