This letter was recently sent to every parent/carer by Mr Reavell and Mrs Devereux

Dear Parent/Carer,

I would like to take this opportunity to keep you informed about some of the important events involving Year 11 students over the next few weeks and months:

Year 11 Summer GCSE examinations

With the Year 11 GCSE examinations starting on Tuesday 3 May 2016, please ensure your child arrives in full Academy uniform and comes correctly equipped (black pens, HB pencils, eraser, ruler, Maths set, Casio scientific calculator, transparent pencil case). Students who arrive without correct uniform may be refused entry to the exam. The Academy are unable to provide students with equipment for exams and failure to come prepared may hinder their ability to meet the exam requirements. Please note that morning examinations start at 8.45am (arrive by 8.30am), afternoon examinations start at 1.15pm (arrive by 12.50pm) and the summer examination season finishes on Monday 27 June 2016. Please refer to your child’s examination timetable for exact dates/times.

Please inform the Academy if your contact details have changed so that we are able to contact you if your child does not arrive to an examination. We will also be collecting your child’s mobile phone number for this reason. All student phone numbers will be kept safe and confidential until the examinations are finished at which point they will be destroyed.

Last Day of Term – Friday 27 May 2016
Friday, 27 May 2016 will be the last day of full-time school for our Year 11 students. Up until that date, Year 11 students must attend school and all timetabled lessons as normal.During periods 3 and 4, there will be a formal Leavers’ Assembly. Year 11 students will have an opportunity to sign their friends’ school shirts to act as a memento of their time at the Academy. Please note students must bring in a spare shirt for signing rather than the shirt they are wearing and students who fail to adhere to this will have to be sent home and therefore miss the Leavers’ Assembly. All students will be expected to leave the Academy site by 1.30pm.

Although Friday 27 May 2016 will be the students’ last formal day, they remain members of the Bexleyheath Academy community until the end of the academic year and, as such, are expected to follow the Academy’s Code of Conduct as normal.

Half-term is from Monday 30 May 2016 to Friday 3 June 2016.

From Monday 6 June 2016
From Monday 6 June 2016, Year 11 students must attend lessons for those subjects where they have outstanding coursework to complete or for those subjects they have not yet sat an examination in. Once all coursework is completed and/or the final examination for that subject is taken, your child will no longer be required to attend lessons in that particular subject. If students arrive to the Academy after the Academy day begins at 8.30am, they must sign in at Main Reception. Upon leaving the site students must exit via Main Reception ensuring that they sign out, unless it is the end of the Academy day. Students will not be able to use their lunch cards to access or leave the Academy site.

Friday 24 June 2016
The Year 11 Prom is being held on Friday 24 June 2016 at Charlton Athletic Football Club. Final details and ticket information will follow in separate correspondence and at a later date.

Results Day – Thursday 25 August 2016
The GCSE results will be available from 10.30am to 12 noon on Thursday 25 August 2016. If students are unable to collect their results in person or via a nominated relative with photographic I.D., results will be posted home that day. Please note results will not be made available over the telephone, by fax or via email.

Year 11 Leavers’ Yearbook and Hoodie
You will shortly be receiving letters regarding the arrangements for ordering the Year 11 Leavers’ Yearbook and Class of 2011-2016 Hoodie.

Finally, Mrs Devereux and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support over the past five years. We will miss the students immensely and wish them every success and good fortune for their forthcoming examinations and the future.

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Reavell, Head of Year 11
Mrs L Devereux, Year 11 Welfare Assistant
