Dear Parents and Carers,

I assure you that following the events of Monday night, I myself together with my staff retain our visible presence around our academy and ‘The Broadway’ area to ensure the safety of all of our students.

Rumours will inevitably circulate following an incident of this kind but we are working very closely with the Police and our absolute priority is to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff.

We know that the safety of your child is of paramount importance to you and again I assure you this situation is being treated with the utmost seriousness. We are actively working together with other agencies to prevent any repetition and ensure the safety of all students in the area.

Please see below for the latest update we have received from the Metropolitan Police.

Yours faithfully

Mr M Pinchin

Principal

Dear Parents,

The safety of children in Bexley is paramount and as such we are actively investigating the large scale fight that took place on Monday evening involving up to 100 youths.  I would like to reassure you that Bexley Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which still remains a challenging situation for all involved and the work continues to deal with the offenders concerned and to prevent further potential violence.

We have implemented a dispersal power on the Broadway in Bexleyheath and in North Heath, which ends at 1400 hours on Thursday 22nd September 2016.  This will be reviewed and if necessary a further dispersal power will be authorised.

We will continue to provide a heightened police presence to provide reassurance to the local community.

Should you have any information regarding the incident, we are appealing for anyone who was involved or witnesses to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Kind regards

Sergeant Claire Penney

Safer Schools Unit
