It was an absolute privilege this morning to hear Year 7 singer Emily Descombes perform Over The Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz. Ms Golding and I were absolutely stunned by the beauty of Emily's voice and the timbre of her tone and pin point intonation. Emily was just warming up for her audition with our Head of Music Mr Yeates for a place on our school choir. Emily performed in the role of Dorothy last year at her Primary School St Michael's and reached the finals of 'Cubjam', a singing competition. Emily's ambition is to become a famous  pop star and loves the fact that singing makes other people feel happy.

It was also fantastic to read the latest poem written by Elijah Bura in Year 10. Elijah's ambition is to be a famous poet and he has been writing Poetry since Year 7. Elijah loves writing poetry as it helps him to express his emotions and opinions. I thought that Elijah's poem was wonderful and I keep reading and re-reading it. I really enjoy discussing poetry with Elijah and look forward to his next poem which he is working on now.

Self Equality  by Elijah Bura Year 10

Some may find this hard to accept:
Emotional equilibrium will always remain.
Love, hate, pride, regret:
For as long as you live, these are forged
in your name.

Evil or good? You can never be sure;
Questioning which way I've been taken
by the tides.
Understand that nobody's mind is pure:
All the decisions you make have two
sides.

Let your mind be free; it is your
birthright.
Inside your heart, you thrive in love
and sin.
To let yourself glow and expose your light,
You must first accept the darkness
within.
