We take the process of transition from primary school to our Academy very seriously.Long before Year 6 students join us in the Summer term prior to their commencement at BA, we are at work in our wider community, hosting events and working in primary schools.
One of the events we host is the annual Bexley Primary Schools Poetry Competition each November. In 2015 the subject was “The Environment.” 11 primary schools participated and we received 554 poems from their Year 5s and Year 6s. The ceremony was attended by The Worshipful Mayor of the London Borough of Bexley, Councillor Sybil Camsey. The winner received a book, medal and certificate and their school was given a plaque.
Schools also visit us to use our facilities and make use of our teaching expertise, particularly in Maths & Science.
We are continually developing the support we provide to primary schools "at their place." A rapidly growing area relates to things of a technological nature and in particular online safety. This work can be seen in class with students, and behind the scenes running training sessions for staff, providing advice upon request for senior leaders, headteachers and governors, and tailoring resources.
We are also make use of our long-running established position with PE and Sports.
