Student Engagement and Leadership Committees

In order to prepare students for life beyond 6th form and to enable them to give something back, Bexleyheath Academy Sixth Form has created the student engagement committees.  Each student has to participate in at least 2 committees.  In addition, there are positions of leadership within the committees for those wishing to develop their leadership skills.

—Help students who struggle academically.
—Help with ALAIT (programme to get Year 7 students up to speed with literacy and numeracy).
—Reading buddies.
—Go into lessons and help specific subjects.
—Liaise with Head of Departments.

—Help students who struggle in school  (not necessarily academically).
—Work with Head of Years.
—Work with Special Needs Department.
—Receive training.
—Train other students.

—Help students to be active.
—Organise sport events.
—Organise sport lunch and break time activities.
—Help out in the PE department.

—Help students to be environmentally aware.
—Work with Eco Council.
—Work with Mr Butterworth in the allotment.
—Work towards Eco School silver award.

—Help students to get the maximum out of their time in school.
—Get students involved in before – and after school activities.
—Help students to set up their clubs.

—Help students to become more involved in their community.
—Help students to become more involved in charity work.
—Work with Rotary Interact Club.
