‘Classroom to Boardroom’ is a flagship event in our work with the GLA and our on going link with Transport for London (TfL). 21 students from Year 12 embarked on the classroom to Boardroom project on a Monday morning not quite sure what to expect. The students had been chosen for the project primarily if they studied Business, Economics or would bring a variety of skills to the group.

The student team had to consider how TfL should approach the regeneration of the Earls Court area, which incorporates three underground stations. This is a live project for TfL due to be completed in 2031. Working as a team of consultants, the students had to consider two challenges. The teams developed their strategies to meet the two challenges on Tuesday and Wednesday and began to write their presentations. Thursday was practice day for the presentations, firstly in their teams then, in the afternoon, as a whole team.

Meanwhile the IT team needed to produce the PowerPoint presentation based on information received from the other teams. TfL executives and invited guests were greeted into the boardroom by Kylron and Aaran. David, Mrs Palmer and Mr Telfer sat at the back confident our students would do well but were still a little nervous at the same time! As the 40 minute presentation progressed, our smiles and confidence grew! Board members commented on the quality of the proposals and presentation, singling out Cherub Chidowe’s public speaking skills, George Seddon’s media and design skills and George Gilbert’s youtube video. The student team also
expertly fielded questions from the Board – Kylron was outstanding! Board members and invited guests all commented on how professional our students had been and how smart and business-like in appearance they were.
