The Hair Show is an annual event held at the academy in conjunction with Skills for Growth, the apprenticeship training organisation in Bexleyheath. The show is a competition between apprentices at the different local hair salons who provide hair apprenticeships for Skills for Growth. Bexleyheath Academy students who attend the on-site Links Hair Academy one day per week are also included in a section of the competition. Our sixth form students help organise the event at the academy. Event managers, Ayesha Gadher and Hannah Francois, in Year 13 did an amazing job with the organisation of the event, which had the theme of ‘Going Global’. Many other Year 12 & Year 13 students were involved in the evening – meeting and greeting, selling tickets, providing refreshments, taking photographs, and playing in the two sixth form bands who performed on the night.

The winners of the Links Academy competitions were;
Year 10 Alesha Edwards
Year 11 Molly Gould

One category being Bollywood and the second category was Carnival.
The coveted prize of Overall Salon Winners 2014 went to Maggie Flockton of Blackfen.

The Downstairs Hall was packed this year as the event continues to grow each year. It is an excellent showcase for the work that happens locally in the training of young apprentices. Bexleyheath Academy is proud of our links with Skills for Growth and of the excellent work our students put in to make the event such a success.
